Islamic Cultural Centre Norway operates the LesKoranen mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use our App. By using the App, you agree to the terms outlined in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We prioritize user privacy. We do not require users to create an account and we do not collect personal information such as names, phone numbers, or home addresses.

However, the App may process the following types of data to function correctly:

• Location Data: * The App requests access to your precise location (with your permission) to calculate accurate prayer times based on your position.
  • Location coordinates are processed locally or sent to a backend service to retrieve relevant prayer times within Norway.
  • We do not store your location history on our servers.
• Device & Notification Data: * The App uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for notifications.
  • A unique, anonymous device token is generated to enable the delivery of updates or announcements.
• App Usage Data (Local & Limited): * The App stores user preferences locally on your device, such as favorite surahs, selected language, reciter preferences, and theme settings.
  • Some preference data may be synchronized with our backend to enable features like “Favorites” across sessions.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information described above solely to:

• Provide accurate, location-based prayer times.
• Send important notifications and announcements via FCM.
• Maintain your personal app settings and customization.
• Ensure smooth performance of audio playback and search features.

3. Features of the App

LesKoranen provides:

• Quran surahs with translations in multiple languages.
• Audio playback (including background playback).
• Duas with text and audio.
• Search functionality and “Favorites” bookmarks.
• Customization (themes, font sizes, and reciters). All these features are designed to operate without requiring the user to share their personal identity.

4. Donations / Payments

The App includes a donation feature that redirects to an external payment gateway.

• We do not collect, process, or store any payment or credit card information within the App.
• All transactions are handled by secure third-party payment providers in Norway (e.g., Vipps or bank portals).

5. Permissions

The App may request the following permissions:

• Location (Precise): To calculate bønnetider (prayer times).
• Notifications: To send updates and Islamic reminders.
• Storage/Media: To handle audio playback and offline content. You can manage or revoke these permissions at any time through your device settings.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following service to improve user experience:

• Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM): Used for sending push notifications. This service may process limited technical data (like device IDs) necessary for message delivery.

7. Data Sharing & Security

• No Sale of Data: We do not sell, rent, or trade your data to third parties.
• Security: We take all reasonable technical measures to protect the limited data processed by the app against unauthorized access or loss.

8. Children’s Privacy

LesKoranen does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Our content is educational and religious, intended for a general audience.

9. User Control & Data Deletion

• Local Data: Since the App does not use accounts, all locally stored preferences and “Favorites” are automatically deleted when the App is uninstalled from your device.
• Opt-out: You can opt-out of notifications and location tracking via your phone’s system settings at any time.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the “Effective Date” at the top of this page.
